Participants in the Emerging Tasmanian Aboriginal Writers Award (ETAWA) and Hidden Stories workshops, discuss their shared experiences of these projects with the judges, mentors and other writers.
ETAWA is an annual award for emerging Tasmanian Aboriginal writers aged 16 or over, who do not identify as professional or established writers. 2021 is the fourth year in which the award has been offered. The 2021 award is offered for poetry written in English or Aboriginal language, or a mix. This year there was no award theme or word limit. This year’s award was supported by a series of workshops offered as part of the Hidden Stories project.
The winning entry will be announced at the Festival opening event. The winner will receive $1000 in prize money and will be published in Island. All ETAWA entrants received a complementary membership to TasWriters.
